In early March, Professor Eduardo Ledesma and a delegation from the University of Illinois affiliated with the IPRH's Public Humanities Steering Committee were on Capitol Hill to advocate for critical humanities funding (NEH, Title VI, National Archives), to be included in the next Budget Appropriation Bill. The delegation also included Prof. Jon Ebel (Religion), Prof. Renée Trilling (English), Prof. Craig Koslofsky (History), and undergraduate student Isabella "Issy" Marquez (major in Political Science, minor in Spanish and LLS). The delegation met with senators and congressmen from all political parties and succeeded in obtaining the support of a majority of those lawmakers for a robust Humanities funding. The advocacy took place as part of National Humanities Advocacy Day, an event organized by the National Humanities Alliance.
